Personalised snowman Christmas Eve box

Christmas Eve Box Ideas for Toddlers

There's a moment on Christmas Eve, usually just after tea, when a toddler realises something special is happening. The tree lights look brighter, everyone's a bit giddy, and then a box appears with their name on it. We've printed a lot of Christmas Eve boxes over the years here in Kent, and the ones that get the biggest reaction are never the most expensive – they're the ones that feel made for that child.

If you're filling a box for a little one aged one to four, here are the ideas that work best, plus a few tips we've picked up along the way.

Start with the box itself

A sturdy box with their name on the lid does two jobs: it builds the excitement on the night, and it becomes a keepsake that comes back out every December. Our personalised Christmas Eve boxes have magnetic lids, which little hands find easy to open (and close, and open again).

For toddlers, simple, friendly characters go down best. The Cute Snowman Christmas Eve Box has a round, rosy-cheeked snowman that feels like an old-fashioned Christmas card, while the Pink Teddy Christmas Eve Box is a soft, cuddly choice.

1. New Christmas pyjamas

Pyjamas are the heart of almost every Christmas Eve box, and for good reason – they get worn straight away, they're in every Christmas morning photo, and toddlers love seeing their own name on the front. Our personalised Christmas pyjamas are soft, breathable cotton.

Tip: if they're between sizes, size up. Toddlers grow fast, and they'll get a second winter out of them.

2. Reindeer food

Sprinkling reindeer food on the lawn before bed is one of those traditions toddlers remember. Our Magical Reindeer Food is a wildlife-friendly oat and seed mix in a cork-stopped tube, so it's kind to the birds too.

3. Something to do

Christmas Eve can be a long day for a two-year-old. A quiet activity helps everyone. Our colour-in t-shirts come with washable pens, so they can colour the design, wash it out and start again. The Snowman Colour-In T-Shirt is a lovely one for little ones.

4. A warm drink before bed

A hot chocolate in their own mug, while you listen out for sleigh bells, is a tradition that sticks. The Pink Christmas Train Mug has a little train puffing through the snow with their name alongside.

Tip: make it warm, not hot, for toddlers – and an extra splash of milk cools it down quickly.

5. A touch of Santa magic

Toddlers are at the perfect age for believing, and small details make it feel real:

6. A sack for the morning

If you're doing a Christmas Eve box, a matching sack for Christmas morning keeps the magic going. Our personalised Santa sacks come in a range of designs, including the exclusive Penguin Santa Sack.

Other little extras toddlers love

  • A Christmas story book to read together before bed
  • A soft toy to cuddle on the big night
  • Bubble bath or a bath toy for a festive bathtime
  • A festive DVD or a favourite film for a cosy family evening
  • Some fruit or a small treat for the morning

Our top tips

  • Order early. Everything we make is personalised to order, and December gets very busy. Faster postal upgrades are available at checkout if you're cutting it close.
  • Double-check the spelling. Because each item is personalised, we can't accept returns unless it's faulty.
  • Keep it simple. For toddlers, three or four things they can open, wear and use that evening beat a box stuffed with extras.

You'll find everything in one place in our Christmas gift ideas collection. If you'd like help choosing, just drop me a message – I'm always happy to help.
